Minutes May 20, 2008 Trustees Meeting

Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes-May 20, 2008
The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of Hillsboro Public Library was called to order by Vice President Markel at 6:18 p.m. with trustees Enochs, Gooding, Hertel, Noyes, and Springer; along with Librarian Sale, all in attendance.

Minutes of the April 15, 2008 meeting were approved as presented on motion by Trustee Hertel and second by Enochs.

President Adams arrived at 6:20 p.m. and chaired the remainder of the meeting.

The financial and circulation reports for the month of April were reviewed and approved on a motion of Trustee Hertel and second by Trustee Springer.

The librarian's report presented by Librarian Sale was reviewed and received.  The report stated that the library will be receiving a check in the amount of $3545.00 from the state library for damage to the library's roof and basement.  It also indicated that the annual report for 2007-2008 has been filed with the state library; and our staff members are continuing work on the genealogy data base as time permits.  Also the trim around the fireplace has been repaired.

On behalf of the buildings and grounds committee, Trustee Hertel reported that a bid had been received from Kenny Moore for stone repair work.  The amount of the bid was $550.00.  Trustee Hertel motioned and Trustee Gooding seconded a motion authorizing acceptance of this bid.  Motion carried. 

Trustee Gooding reported that there were five children and 3 adults involved in this month's story hour, which hosted by Mary Galer and Cheryl Sale.  Dates for the summer reading program has been set for June 9, 11, and 13.  The program is for grades K-4, and can accommodate 24 children.

On a motion by Trustee Springer and second by Trustee Gooding the board elected the following to serve as officers for the year: President - Barbara Adams, Vice-President- Beverly Markel, and Secretary/Treasurer- Mark Noyes.

There be no other business to come before the Board the meeting was adjourned by President Adams 6:45 p.m.

Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes-April 15, 2008

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Hillsboro Public Library was called to order by President Adams at 6:15 p.m. with trustees Baker, Gooding, Markel, and Noyes; along with Librarian Sale, all in attendance.

Minutes of the March 18, 2008 meeting were approved as presented on a motion by Trustee Baker and a second by Trustee Gooding.

The financial and circulation reports for the month of March were reviewed and approved on a motion by Trustee Markel and a second by Trustee Noyes.

The librarian's report presented by Librarian Sale was reviewed and received.  The report suggested that the non-resident fees for a library card be increased, s it had been years since the last increase.  On motion by Trustee Gooding and a second by Trustee Markel the fee was increased to $25.00 per year beginning May 1, 2008.  Librarian Sale also reported on damage caused by a water leak around the chimney on the west wall, and she reported that she is in contact with Lewis and Clark Library System concerning a disaster grant for the repairs.  Lastly, librarian Sale reported that we will be offering baseball tickets to participants in our summer reading program, and that we are in receipt of a letter from the Illinois State Library indicating that our Per-Capita Grant has been approved.

Trustee Gooding reported that were were six children and five adults involved in this month's story hour.

The proposed budget for fiscal year 2008-2009 presented for review, and on a motion by Trustee Noyes and a second by Trustee Baker the Board adopted the Budget.

There being no other business to come before the Board the meeting was adjourned
by President Adams at 6:38 p.m.

Minutes from the March 18, 2008 Board of Trustees Meeting

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Hillsboro Public Library was called to order by President Adams at 6:15 p.m. with trustees Enochs, Gooding, Hertel, and  Noyes; along with Librarian Sale, all in attendance.  Trustee Buerkett arrived at 6:20 p.m.

Minutes of the January 15, 2008 meeting were approved as presented on a motion by
Trustee Hertel and a second by Trustee Enochs.  No meeting was held in February due to lack of quorum.

The financial and circulation reports for the months of January and February were reviewed and approved on a motion by Trustee Hertel and seconded by Trustee Buerkett.

The librarians's report presented by Librarian Sale reviewed and received.  The report indicated that the third installment of Corporate Tax had been received and the fourth payment is forthcoming.  The library's web page is operational, and may be viewed at www.hillsborolibrary.org.  Three children attended this month's Lap Sit program; and eight adults and nine children attended Trustee Gooding's story hour in March.  Trustee Enochs was commended for fund raising efforts, personally selling approximately $900.00 in tickets for the recent fund raiser.  The event grossed approximately $2032.00.

Chairman of the Building and Grounds committee, Trustee Hertel, reported that he had spoken with the insurance man, and that the insurance company has agreed to pay for replacing the paneling and carpet, but won't pay to repair the basement wall.  Trustee Hertel will again contact Kenny Moore for a bid for this repair work.

The annual compilation of the librarian's review was distributed to the Trustees for their review.

There being no other business to come before the board the meeting was adjourned by President Adams at 6:50 p.m.
